1. Elucidat’s “Data Protection” Compliance Training Demo Uses Real Case Studies, Polling and Scenarios

Compliance isn’t about box ticking, not if you want to reduce real risks to your business. This demo uses real case studies, polling and scenarios to drive personal changes in daily data handling.

Why we like it:

  • Uses polling to engage learners and presents the results in visually different ways.
  • Icons are used to differentiate between core content and supporting information, useful for ‘just in time’ learning or repeat learning.
  • Real life case studies support the feedback given after each poll question.
  • Good scenario treatment: Learners have the opportunity to reconsider their decisions, following a helpful prompt; feedback is comprehensive and well presented; scenarios are scored; a job aid is provided.

2. Savv-e’s Cyber Security Course Helps Learners Understand And Protect Themselves From Online Threats

How much damage can a computer virus cause? Well, a virus called MyDoom is said to be the most expensive computer virus of all time, causing over 38 billion dollars of damage. And it all started from just one email.

Elucidat’s Australian partner, Savv-e, has recognized the importance of raising awareness in organizations today and created a Cyber Security module that helps learners understand online threats and how to protect themselves and their organizations.

Why we like it:

  • It’s a web-based responsive design.
  • Uses a wide variety of page types to tell a story and ask learners to make decisions and judgements. We especially like their use of the Vertical Timeline and the Flip page type.
  • The quiz is not just a fact check and asks learners how to spot cyber threats.
  • Includes real-life examples and scenarios to highlight key learning.

The feedback reveals some surprising facts and videos from botanist James Wong – not to be confused with James Wong, the director of the x-files!

Why we like it:

  • Uses polling to compare your answers with other respondents.
  • Additional information supports the feedback given after each question in the form of interesting and surprising facts and a video from an expert.
  • Learners are given a final score and directed to further learning opportunities.

4. Open University’s “Which Brontë Sister?” Uses Elucidat’s Simple Yet Powerful Quiz Page Type

Do quizzes really do anything for anyone? Research says “Yes!” Quizzes can be used to test what people have learned but also what people want to learn. Completing the quiz created for the Open University I realize all my knowledge is about one Brontë sister. Sorry Anne and Emily. I will do better in 2017.

Each question gives you a quote or phrase from one of their novels and your task is to match this with the right sister.

For a bit of fun the Elucidat team has created a Christmas Pudding Challenge. See if you can cook up a tasty festive pud in under three minutes.

Why we like it:

  • It’s full of goodies – polling, tooltips, timer and a variety of quiz page types.
  • It puts me in the Christmas spirit and reminds me why I love Christmas but really don’t like Christmas pudding.
